Day 4 of the 30 Day Challenge.

Since I didn’t post one yesterday… I’m doing 2 questions today.

Oki… let’s get started.

DAY 4:

Your view on religion.

Oh boy, my favorite topic so far. Religion… I grew up in a non conservative Muslim country… Iran. Yes, people are forced to wear the “veil”, or “Hijab”, or whatever name you have for it, but most of the people do it because they are forced to, not because they truly believe that it must be worn because of their religion. I used to wear it, and yet here I am, without my Hijab, and yet I’m a Muslim… See I used to think religion was created to control people. Think about it, religion has been used as a tool to control people and to maintain power. No? Go back in history I’m sure you can put your finger on a couple of examples. But then I realized how much religion has helped humans evolve and survive devastation and hard times. It might not occur to you right away, but that belief in God, or whatever else, keeps people going everyday. I realized that fate enables some people to become better people and do good in this world, and yet it enables some to do harm; like extremists, which all religions happen to have them, not just Islam. Honestly, this is a tough one, because I don’t know where I stand exactly. I don’t know if I can call myself a Muslim or not, but all I know is that I do believe in God, and the prophecies and some sayings of the Quran, most of the times. So I can’t really justify how I feel about religion; just that it’s more like a tool, which helps some people survive, some control others, and some do harm. Then again nothing is perfect, right?
